The Good Shepherd Housing Foundation (GSHF) of Woodbridge, Virginia announces the retirement of its Executive Director, Ms. Pat Johanson, effective January 31, 2025. Ms. Johanson has served GSHF admirably for the past 12 years. Her steady hand in guiding the Foundation has been a key to the success of the organization in meeting it’s critical mission of providing affordable housing opportunities to low-income individuals and families, especially those who struggle with mental illness. She will be sorely missed.

OVERVIEW
The Executive Director, under the direction of the Good Shepherd Housing Foundation Board of Directors will assume overall management responsibility for the Agency’s housing programs, through pursuit of grants and fundraising, administration of agency budget, oversight and direction of staff. The Executive Director will interface with county, state and general public to communicate GSHF’s Mission, develop partnerships to advance the Mission and with the Assistant Director will ensure safety of clients and staff and Foundation assets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare grants for GSHF and properties.
Interface with private and government funders.
Conduct fundraising efforts.
Hire and fire staff.
Supervises Assistant Director.
Administers budget in collaboration with Assistant Director.
Research and develop funding sources.
Assist with development and monitoring of programs and strategic planning in pursuit of mission and vision of GSHF.
Work with Board of Directors and attend all meetings.
Prepare marketing materials.
Risk management in collaboration with Assistant Director.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
5 years of experience in Executive leadership.
Prior experience with programs or clients with mental illness.
Preferred experience with risk management and housing services.
College degree required.
